Chain Washer

SpanTech’s Clean-In-Place (CIP) Chain Washer is a built-in, enclosed unit designed to reduce the labor and downtime required to clean conveyor chain. The washer is capable of removing difficult materials such as dried-on icings, glazings, batters, toppings, and fillings.

Chain cleaning normally takes place during breaks in production. Since it operates automatically, this unit provides the user with a more reliable method of ensuring that the chain is totally cleaned.

The conveyor’s return chain enters the unit housing and passes through a wash zone. Nozzles direct pressurized water onto the chain to remove debris. Then pressurized air from the internal air knife removes most of the water from the chain before it leaves the housing. Drip trays at the entrance and exit of the washer itself capture most of the water lost from the unit. The small amount of water that is not removed by the air nozzles can be captured in optional drip trays mounted under the drive and idler of the conveyor. This combination makes the system ideal for use in non-washdown environments.

The CIP unit can be used with any of the Designer System ® conveyor chains, except cleated or tube top chain patterns.

The CIP unit was designed for ease of service. The inner elements of the unit can be exposed without tools by removing the top cover, which is attached by clamps. The water and air manifolds can be removed from one side of the unit for inspection of the nozzles. The drip trays are detachable without tools for simple removal of any material collected during production.

Lift Gate

When personnel or equipment require access to the interior of a closed conveyor loop, a Lift Gate can be the solution. A Lift Gate is a counterweighted or spring-loaded conveyor section, hinged to allow it to be raised and lowered as needed. The Lift Gate is designed to safely remain in the “up” position after being raised, until it is intentionally lowered. The Gate’s conveyor section can be slave-driven from the preceding conveyor, if desired.

Powered Divert

Among the many possible uses for SpanTech’s versatile MiniLink product is the Powered Divert Rail. The Powered Divert is especially suited for use with non-rigid product, such as bagged product. It is also very useful for applications having a limited conveyor length, where a standard, stationary divert rail (with a lesser angle of deflection) would be too long to fit within the available space.

Traffic Cop

The Traffic Cop device is designed to automatically merge (or allow to be merged) two lanes of product, having uniform or nonuniform sizes and weights, into a single lane of output. The Traffic Cop uses a pair of mechanically-linked arms to orchestrate product flow for a smooth merge from two conveyor lanes to one. The arms alternately hold back and then release the product, and are interlocked so that they cannot both release product at the same time. The Traffic Cop’s simple, fully mechanical design operates without the use of sensing devices, I/O components, or powered automation.

Vinyl Underguarding

SpanTech’s vinyl underguarding is made of yellow vinyl with a plastic 3/8" diameter rod (heat sealed) along each side. The rod fits into the brackets, thus eliminating the need to have precise grommet holes. Two snaps at the idler end fasten to the idler bracket and two snaps at the drive end fasten to the drive bracket. Cleaning out the underguarding is made simple through the quick release feature of the stainless brackets.
