Product Rotate
For many types of products, the Bump Rotate is a simple and effective method of changing product orientation during conveyance. A roller wheel or tab, placed on either side of the conveyor, is contacted by the oncoming product, causing the product to rotate by 90 degrees. If a 180 degree rotation is needed, two Bump Rotates are used in succession. Guide rail spacing can be increased at each rotate point to allow room for the rotation.
Right Angle Transfer
When product needs to be transferred to a conveyor from a perpendicular conveyor, a right angle transfer is used. The very small nose thickness of SpanTech’s MicroSpan Transfer often makes it ideal for such applications. When configured for right angle transfer, objects as small as 8mm (0.32”) can be successfully handled. The simplicity of the right angle transfer configuration also eliminates the need to stop either of the conveyors during the transfer process.
Side Alignment
When needed, product can easily be aligned to one side of the conveyor for labeling, printing, further transport, or other tasks. In the application seen here, two product lanes are merged into one lane, and then aligned along a common side. Conveyor speeds are used to prepare the product for merging, which is then accomplished using a simple tilt conveyor. As the side incline angle of the conveyor increases, gravity causes the product to gently slide “down” until it contacts the side alignment guide rail.
